Magna Carta Records ( http://www.magnacarta.net/ ), is a record label that came about in the late 1980s/early 1990s, and it is a record label devoted to progressive music of all kinds, including progressive rock. Artists such as Magellan, Steve Walsh, Steve Morse, Kansas, World Trade, Explorers Club, James la Brie, Terry Bozzio, Shadow Gallery, Liquid Tension Experiment, and others have put out some wonderful music on this record label. At the beginning of Magna Carta Records, a series of tribute cds were released to some of the giants of progressive rock music, such as YES, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Genesis. Tribute to the Titans is a compilation of musical tracks from these tribute cds. By and large, the tracks are well above average quality to excellent quality, and usually very faithful to the originals, sometimes so much, that you cant tell if it is the original band doing the track, or the tribute band. To be sure, the tracks are not just re-creations of the original, but new interpretations of the original composition. It works for the most part, and is a nice concept and compliment to some great artists who are by and large still performing. | 4NYC is an album by Jordan Rudess which was recorded live September 24, 2001 and released September 10, 2002. The album came about as part of Rudess's reaction to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In an effort to raise money for the American Red Cross and to help ease the pain associated with the great loss he and the people of New York felt, he and his wife organized a benefit concert. The tracks comprise performances from that concert and improvisations done in Rudess's studio the following week. All pieces are composed by Jordan Rudess.
