HOUSE OF MIRRORS 'Desolation' 2006 melodic Hard Rock CDFOR U.S. BUYERS: $2.99 shipping is WITHOUT jewelcase(you get the CD + all inserts but NO plastic case) FORMAT: CD CONDITION: NEW YEAR OF RELEASE:CAT. NO.: ESMLABEL: ESCAPE MUSIC COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: U.K.One of the most beautiful countries in the world is Finland. It has all the landscapes you know, mountains, lakes, woods and very important, clear and untouched breathing air. All that must have a very positive influence on the musicians of that country. There is a lot of good music coming out of this land. Favourites for me are bands like Altaria, Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica.House Of Mirrors, which second album 'Desolation' is now playing in my player can be add too, now. I never heard from these guys but this disc is a little surprise to me. The music is melodic hardrock/metal and on this CD are some fine tunes that already will stick in your head after one listen. There are songs that almost AOR and there are songs that are almost power metal. The musicians of this band are very experienced in their thing especially guitarist Jakko Niltemaa, he adds many beautiful solo's to the overall fine compositions. A little minor at some occasions is vocalist Pekka Rautiainen; there are times that the listener will hear that his voice is somewhere too limited to sing in the required highs. That puts a little break to the songs; it's a pity because otherwise this album was more in the direction of being perfect. Some of the coolest songs are 'Broken Soul' which start with a heavy rhythm and has some great choirs. 'Where Are You Now' is a beautiful ballad. But⦠I hope this will never reach the ears of Paul Stanley from KISS. The guitars in the beginning are a straight copy of the guitars in the beginning of 'Reason To Live' from KISS. That might cost these Finns some money! Anyway, I really love how this band has worked that guitar in their song. The intro of the next song on this album has a similar feel over it. I heard that somewhere before although I cannot recall it right now. Again they use it all in a good way. 'Gone With The Summer' has an awesome piece of acoustic guitar leading the song in to a beautiful easy listener. These fins have created a nice album and although they have recycled some musical parts I already have heard before, they get away with it if it is up to me.Review by Eddy, Lords Of Metal zineTRACKLISTING:.
