No.:Label: CapitolRemastered 2004 reissue including three bonus tracks, 'Chutney' (previously unreleased), 'Segue' (instrumental - previously unreleased), & 'The Creed' (Megadeth demo - previously unreleased). 'The Craving' was a collaboration between Dave Mustaine on guitar, and Lee Ving on vocals. Coming from the band FEAR, Ving brought a punk flavor to Mustaine's compositions. Mustaine's work on 'The Craving' is stripped down compared to the trademark frantic riffing of Megadeth. His playing had a gritty, southern flavor which was complimented by the similarly gritty vocals of Ving. Ving also contributed a few harmonica licks to the album, which added a bit of personality. The songs were playful and catchy rock numbers, and all told the album was quite well done. In comparison, 'The Craving' remaster of 2004 is a whole different beast. As everyone knows, the vocals were redone by Mustaine and the harmonica parts were played by Mustaine's lead guitar. But what is often overshadowed by these obvious changes is the effect of the remix and remaster. Essentially, Mustaine has mixed this album to sound more like Megadeth. The bass is thick, the drums crisp and loud with a punchy kick and snare, and the guitar sound is heavy.
